Ross and Cromarty Disability Access Group is working to promote the importance of an inclusive environment for all people in the Area. The Group believes that no member of the community, or any visitor to the community, should be excluded from any aspect of public life because of disability.
Our work has been given increased impetus by the gradual introduction of the DDA over the years from 1996 to full implementation in 2004. We aim to work with statutory, voluntary and commercial agencies to support them to improve disabled access in Ross and Cromarty. We support businesses and community organisations to improve their disability access in a variety of ways:
- Commenting on planning applications
- Giving talks about our work to local groups
- Running Access Awareness Sessions
- Carrying out Access Surveys of business and community premises
- Providing information on good practice in disabled access
